English Translation

1. Lob sei dir, gütiger Gott,
Dass du mir hast offenbaret
Deinen Sohn, mein Heil und Hort,
Der sich selbst nicht sparet,
Sondern gab in Elend groß:
Mir ohn' Maß
Bis in Tod willfahret.

To be added

2. Keinen Trost, denn dich allein,
Hab ich, Jesu Christ, auf Erden.
Sieh an dein Fleisch und Gebein,
Hilf mir aus Gefährden,
Sonderlich in Sterbensnot,
Dass der Tod,
Mir ein Schlaf müss' werden.

3. Lass mich dir befohlen sein,
Beid', im Leben und im Sterben,
Hilf den Glauben halten rein
Und in dein Blut färben,
Nach vollbrachtem Kampf und Lauf,
Bald darauf,
Des Lebens Kron' erben.

4. Pfleg mein stets durch deinen Geist
Und voraus, wenn ich werd' liegen,
Und mein' Kraft wie Wachs zerfleußt
In den letzten Zügen:
Gib, dass ich in dir verscheid'
Und mit Freud
Im Gericht mög' siegen.

5. Herre Gott vom Himmelreich,
Geheiliget werd' dein Namen,
Zukomm uns dein wertes Reich,
Dein Will' g'scheh allsammen,
Frist das Leben mit Geduld,
Tilg die Schuld,
Hilf vom Übel, Amen.
