Ensemble ZOEF (Vocal & Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: 2020 - The Netherlands

ZOEF is a creative, creating collective. Every performance has its own character, transforming the location and context into a musical expierence. They try to push their environment and themselves to move boundaries. Together with their audience, they explore different styles with arrangements tailored to their ensemble.

This collective emerged from the mindset of the Riccitti Ensemble. Here they gathered experiences with playing for many different audiences and learned how to make authentic connections through a broad and diverse repertoire. Starting from their base repertoire (including Bach, Britten, Fauré, Piazzolla, Purcell, Vaughan Williams, and different arrangements of jazz, klezmer and folk music) they build an authentic performance for each location, inspired by their audience. By visiting and exploring their locations in advance, they often arrive at the topics that will determine their performance.

Musicians

The ZOEF ensemble consists of a string quintet, oboe and soprano. Unique to this ensemble is the fact that each of them is specialized in different fields next to their education as musician: anthropology, philosophy, history, IT, pedagogy and mathematics. With their broad field of interests, they can connect to their audience in many different ways and inspire from different perspectives and specializations.
