Chris Woods (Trombone, Arranger)

Born: El Cajon, California, USA

The American trombonist and arranger, Chris Woods, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Bass trombone performance from San Diego State University (1973); his Master of Church Music degree from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary (1978); his Master of Music degree in Bass trombone performance from California State University in Fullerton (1989); and his DMA degree in Bass trombone performance from University of North Texas (2001). Chris Woods taught having taught theory /composition/brass in Pennsylvania, California and Texas. He then taught taught full time in the music department at Greenville University in Illinois (1994-2016); and is now Emeritus Professor of Music, serving in an adjunct capacity, teaching theory and aural skills, composition, and applied brass lessons. He continues to perform, write and conduct throughout the year. Since 1992, he has travelled to Germany during the summer to co-lead and play in the brass ensemble "Eurobrass - music that goes beyond". Also during the summer he directs the Greenville Municipal Band. During the school year, he is the bass trombonist with the St. Louis Wind Symphony. Occasionally he is commissioned to compose music for a "Posaunenchor" - a German brass choir. He is active as brass arranger published in USA and Germany. He is a member of College Music Society and International Trombone Association.
