Strathmere Ensemble (Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: 1996 - New York City, New York, USA

The Strathmere Ensemble was founded in 1996 by ensemble director and double-bassist Jack Kulowitsch. The ensemble takes its name from the quaint oceanfront town in South Jersey where the group played its first concerts at the Strathmere Methodist Church.

Members of the Strathmere Ensemble come together from all over the world, from places such as Japan, Ireland, Pennsylvania and New York City. They all share a love of great music, and have drawn inspiration from working with such artists as Felix Galimir and Blanche Honegger-Moyse. Since their beginnings the Strathmere Ensemble has played many concerts together in South Jersey and at the NY Society for Ethical Culture, and more recently at St. Veronica's and St. John's in the Village.
