Jean-Louis Richer (Choral Conductor)

Born: Canada

The Canadian choral conductor, Jean-Louis Richer, obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (1970-1973) and his Master of Music degree in Computer Science (1973-1977) from the Université de Montréal.

Researcher in computer sound synthesis at IRCAM in Paris, France (1977-1981); at UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal (1981-2009), including: Director of Planning and Director of Teaching and Research Services (1981-1995), Assistant to the vice-rector for communications (1995-1997), Assistant to the Vice-Rector for Academic Services and Technological Development (1997-2002), Financial aid and scholarships (2002-2004), Director of Student Life Services (2004-2009); Chair of the Student Services Subcommittee at CREPUQ (2005-2011); General Manager Student Services at Université de Montréal (2009-2014).

Jean-Louis Richer directed the famous ensemble Les Jongleurs as well as Bach et cetera. In 2017, he created the vocal ensemble Minimum 12 of which he is the director.
