Marius Popp (Conductor, Organ, Piano, Harpsichord)

Born: November 21, 1955 - Cluj-Napoca, Romania

The Romanian conductor, organist, pianist and harpsichordist, Marius Popp, received his first piano lessons at the age of 4. In 1962, he made his first public appearances as a pianist. He studied at the Fachakademie für Evangelische Kirchenmusik in Bayreuth, in the organ class of Professor Viktor Lukas, graduating as a full-time church musician and music teacher II. He had Kapellmeister studies at the Musikhochschule Köln (Professor Volker Wangenheim). He was 5 years conductor of the Orchesterverein Bayreuth, and music critic for Frankenpost / Bayreuth, Coburger Tageblatt, Neue Presse. At the age of 25, he started a second study in the field of work and employment Business organization. He was REFA teacher for pre-primary, basic education, statistics, nomography, data organization; Development and programming of extensive software products (Production planning and control, cost accounting, architects, etc.). Since 2002, he serves as Dekanatskantor in Kronach. Organ master-classes with Professor Edgar Krapp, Professor Daniel Roth, Professor Luigi Tagliavini, Professor Dr. Marie-Luise Langlais and Professor André Cea Galan complemented his education.

Concert activity as a conductor, organist, pianist and harpsichordist in Germany and abroad:
Organ duo with Sabine Steinmetz, Eva Gräbner, Carlo Benatti (Mantova).
Several composers created and trusted works at his suggestion the world premieres. Several of these compositions are dedicated to Marius Popp.
CD recordings: "Zeitgenössische Coburger Komponisten:, "Internationale Orgelmusik für 2 & 1", "Amerikanische Orgelmusik für zwei".

Internationaler Orgelzyklus Kronach (2003): Marius Popp is the initiator, organizer and artistic director; Patron: Landrat Oswald Maar (District Administrator) Oswald Maar.
Concert series: Portrait zeitgenössischer Komponisten (Portrait of contemporary composers) (since 2003): Marius Popp is initiator, organizer, artistic director and soloist; Patron: President of the Bayerischen Musikrates Wilfried Anton; in co-operation with the Bayerischen Musikrat, dem Bayerischen Staats- ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst.
