The Colombian soprano, harpsichordist and organist, Ana María Fonseca NúñezWas, received her first piano lessons at the age of 4. In 1991 she joined the Conservatory of the National University of Colombia. She completed her piano studies with Radostina Petkova at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (2001-2006). By participating in the “Early Music for Our Time” project, funded by the Bank of the Republic of Colombia and in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, a great deal of interest in historical performance practice developed. In 2007 she was invited by the Camerata of Caracas, where she studied with Isabel Palacios and Rubén Guzmán. During this time, she worked as a singer and continuo harpsichordist with L'Orfeo de Monteverdi and the Virtuosi Orchestra of Caracas. In 2010 she began studying harpsichord at the University of the Arts (UDK) with Mitzi Meyerson. Two years later she received a place at the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, University of Early Music Basel and deepened her studies with Professor Jörg Andreas Bötticher (harpsichord, general bass and ensemble director) and Professor Edoardo Torbianelli (Fortepiano), which she completed in 2018. She also studied singing with Professor Gerd Türk and received a diploma for medieval keyboards with Corina Marti (2012-2017).
She competed her studies with a Research on the Arts course with a focus on musicology and music anthropology at the University of Bern (2016-2019). Her diploma thesis with the topic “Spanish romance and the Latin American revolutionary song” is awarded magna cum laude. Researching manuscripts of Renaissance and Baroque Latin American music, as well as examining the influence of the first Jesuit missions, continue to be an essential part of your work. She also attended master-classes with Amandine Beyer, Emma Kirkby, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Andreas Scholl and Sara Mingardo.
Ana María Fonseca Núñez has already worked with well-known conductors and ensembles, including Andrea Marcon, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Jörg Andreas Bötticher, Café Zimmermann, Neues Orchester Basel and Musica Fiorita. She is the founder of the Baroque orchestra Camerata Bogota and the ensemble Como era en un principio. She currently lives in Berlin, Germany. |
