Flore Van Meerssche (Soprano)

Born: Belgium

The Belgian-born soprano, Flore Van Meerssche, completed her In 2018 she completed her Master of Music degree Concert Singing at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 2018 with distinction (2015-2018); and her Master of Music degree in Lied Performance at the same institute with distinction (2018-February 2021). Her teachers include Fenna Kügel-Seifried, Andreas Schmidt, Fritz Schwinghammer, Donald Sulzen and Celine Dutilly. She attended master-classes with Helmut Deutsch, Ian Bostridge, Roberta Alexander, Jan Philip Schulze, Dietrich Henschel, Kai Wessel and Andreas Staier.

Flore Van Meerssche last appeared on the opera stage as Cleopatra in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto as part of the “Talent Factory” under the artistic direction of Alessandro de Marchi. In 2021 she will take on one of the leading roles in the “Barockoper: Jung” at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik. In 2019 she sang Colette in Le Devin du Village by Jean-Jaques Rousseau under the direction of Joachim Tschiedel at the Internationalen Musikfestival "Kissinger Sommer". She also made her debut at the Kammeroper München in the summer of 2019 in the role of Virginia in the new opera Das Gespenst von Canterville by Dominik Wilgenbus with performances in Schloss Nymphenburg, Gütersloh and in Switzerland. During her studies she could also be heard as Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Minerva in Monteverdi's Ulisse and Adina in Donizetti's L’elisir d’amore.

In the concert field, Flore Van Meerssche has a broad repertoire that includes the most important works by J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Haydn, W.A. Mozart, Rossini, Johannes Brahms and Dvorak through to contemporary compositions. She has sung with orchestras such as the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, Orchester der Kammeroper München, Accademia di Monaco, Capella Sollertia, Vocalconsort München and Innphilharmonie Rosenheim.

A special focus of her artistic activity is Lieder and chamber music. In January 2020 she could be heard together with Christine Schornsheim (fortepiano) and the Vocalconsort München under the direction of Johanna Soller with Lieder by Franz Schubert.

Flore Van Meerssche is a scholarship holder of the Deutsches Bühnenverein, Richard-Wagner-Verbands München and Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now Munich. She currently lives in Munich, Germany.
