Andreas Mattersberger (Bass)

Born: Matrei In Osttirol, Tirol, Austria

The Austrian bass, Andreas Mattersberger, did his studies with Professor Hanser from 2004 to 2005 at the Tyrolean Conservatory. Already in his first year of studies at the conservatory, he gave a guest performance singing the leading part Don Giovanni in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Geneva Opera Studio. He intensivied his vocal preparation participating master-classes with KS Robert Holl and KS Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.

From 2005 to 2012, Andreas Mattersberger was ensemble member at the Tiroler Landestheater, where he studied and performed a number of prestigious roles. Since then he is continuously advised and trained by KS Brigitte Fassbaender (since 2005). Personally composed for his voice and recorded on CD were the leading parts in operas and oratorios. As Papageno he was highly successful and this part has accompanied him for many years now. The Helbling publishing house released several DVD's, where Andreas Mattersberger performs and explains everything around W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte.

His soloist activities in the area of oratorio have already taken him throughout many European countries. In 2010, he had his successful debut at the renowned Eppaner Liedsommer and reappeared there on stage in 2014 and 2015. Various broadcast and CD/ DVD recordings of compositions of various music epochs give prove of the young singer´s wide-ranging work. In summer 2012, he had his debut in Mexiko City and in 2013, he debuted at the Munich Gasteig.

Andreas Mattersberger was a fixed member in the company of the German National Theatre Weimar and in November 2013, he recorded Richard Strauss' Lieder together with the pianist Malcolm Martineau. He further appeared on stage at the State Theatre Braunschweig, the Opera Halle, the State Theatre Saarbrücken, the State Theatre Darmstadt, the Opera Kiel and at the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch, at the latter he performed together with Krassimira Stoyanova. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 he performed the bass-parts in the rediscoveries of operas of the composer G.S. Mayr for Naxos- Records accompanied by the chorus of the Bavarian State Opera.

In 2017 Andreas Mattersberger had his debut as Figaro in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the TLT - equally cheered by audience and press - and also performed at the Opera Leipzig in Strauss´ Arabella. In 2017-2018 he performed Plumkett in Martha at the TLT, Baburow in Moskau, Grande Inquisitor in Don Carlo at the Staatstheater Braunschweig and the bass solo part in the Symphony No.8 by Gustav Mahler with Sofia Philharmonics in Bulgaria. He furthermore was guest singer at the Marvao Music Festival in Protugal, singing W.A. Mozart's Requiem. In November 2018, he sang G. Verdi´s Requiem in the Liederhalle Stuttgart for the first time. In 2019, he will make his debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Tiroler Landestheater and will appear on stage for the first time at the Opera Graz as Plumkett in F.V. Flotows Martha.
