Guilherme Mannis (Conductor)

Born: January 24, 1980 - São Paulo, Brazil

The Brazilian conductor, Guilherme Mannis, holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Music from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). His main conducting teacher was maestro John Neschling and he participated in courses with Kurt Masur (Campos do Jordão), Jorma Panula (Instrumenta Verano) and Isaac Karabtchevsky (MusicaRiva, Riva del Garda, Italy). He was awarded in several competitions.

Guilherme Mannis has been Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Sinfônica de Sergipe (ORSSE) in Aracaju, Brazil since August 2006, where he has shared the stage with artists such as Maria-João Pires, Michel Legrand, Nelson Freire, Jean Louis Steuerman, André Mehmari, Emmanuele Baldini, Wagner Tiso, Amaral Vieira, Eduardo Monteiro, Ricardo Castro, among others.

As a guest conductor, Guilherme Mannis has conducted groups such as the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Osesp), Petrobras Sinfônica, Amazonas Filarmônica, Sinfônica de Roma, Sinfônica de Rosário (ARG), Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra de Câmara do Amazonas, Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional de Brasília, Sinfônica da Bahia, Sinfônica de Ribeirão Preto, Filarmônica do Espírito Santo, Orquestra Sinfônica Carlos Chávez, Sinfônica Nacional da Bolívia e and World Youth Orchestra, among others.

Guilherme Mannis has been developing a recognized project to insert ORSSE into the national artistic scene, with emphasis on the holding of six Annual Concert Seasons, the production of the operas Aïda, La Bohème and Tosca, the recording of Suites for chamber orchestra and Bachianas Brasileiras nº3, by Heitor Villa-Lobos and the Brazil Tour with concerts in Curitiba (Teatro Guaíra), Rio de Janeiro (Sala Cecília Meirelles), Brasília (Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro) and São Paulo (Sala São Paulo) with great public and critical success. He was the leader of Orsse ao Festival de Inverno de Campos do Jordão as well. He has also promoted the development of concerts throughout the interior of the state of Sergipe and the popularization of access to concert music.

Guilherme Mannis was also Cláudio Cruz's assistant conductor at the Orquestra Sinfônica de Ribeirão Preto and presenter of the Sala de Concerto program, dedicated to the dissemination of symphonic music in Sergipe, between 2007 and 2008.

Mannis' recent engagements include concerts with the Sinfônica do Paraná, Philharmonic of Gorzow (Poland), Orquestra Sinfônica de Monterrey (Mexico) and Amazonas Filarmônica, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Amazonas Filarmônica, among others. He currently lives in Aracaju, Brazil.
