Magdeburger Universitätchor (Choir)

Founded: 1993 - Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

The Magdeburger Universitätschor (Magdeburg University Choir) was founded in 1993 by KMD Günther Hoff. After developing choral-symphonic works and an a cappella programme, they made concert tours with the choir in several cities in Germany and Israel. With the re-opening of Johanniskirche in Magdeburg, the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität created a series of concerts with the Magdeburger Universitätschor. The choir usually perfoms 3-4 concerts a year. The programme of 2012 includes: J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion BWV 245 (March, Johanniskirche Magdeburg), Haydn's Schöpfung (September, Dom zu Magdeburg), J.S. Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 (December, Johanniskirche Magdeburg). The current Director of the choir is Tobias Eger.
