Lukas Loss (Piano)

Born: 1997 - Basel, Switzerland

The Swiss pianist, choral conductor and music teacher, Lukas Loss, finished his Bachelor of Mausic degree in piano summa cum laude (2018)) in the Hochschule für Musik (HSM) Basel in the classes of Claudio Martínez Mehner and Anton Kernjak. Further lessons with Jan Schultsz, Rafael Rosenfeld, Felix Renggli, Ivan Monighetti, Thomas Demenga, Michel Roth, Marc Hantaï and others; in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis he studies harpsichord and basso continuo as a minor with Andrea Scherer. He won 1st prize at the Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb in Lugano in 2015. He attended master-classes, among others, with Ferenc Rados, Heinz Holliger and Oliver Schnyder.

In 2018 Lukas Loss performed as a soloist with the Sinfonieorchester Basel and the Akademisches Orchester Basel under the batons of the maestri Christoph Gedschold and Iwan Wassilevski R. Strauss' Burleske Frédéric Chopin's Piano concerto No. 1 in Basel venues such as Musical Theater, Martinskirche, Pauluskirche and others. With the Brassensemble of the Music Academy he played G. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue at the Stadtcasino Basel as well as in the Dorfkirche Riehen.

Lukas Loss works as a répétiteur and vice conductor in many renowned choirs, such as the 'Basler Gesangverein' under Facundo Agudin and the Choir of the University of Basel under Olga Pavlu; he also conducts his own choir (Alumni KKB). From 2016 to 2018 he was the vice conductor and répétiteur of the famous Knabenkantorei Basel (KKB). Master-classes in choral conducting among others with Eriks Esenvalds. Further engagements with the Basler Madrigalisten, Männerstimmen Basel, Studienchor Leimental and other choirs as well as with singers such as Hanno Müller-Brachmann, Nathalie Mittelbach, Michael Feyfar, Robert Koller and more.

With his Basel Piano Trio and the Trio Casu he performs recitals in Spain (i.g. Fundacíon Vidal), Germany and Switzerland. Lukas Loss participates in competitions all over Europe and regularly plays solo recitals in places such as Swiss Foundation for Young Musicians, Museum Kleines Klingental, Heiliggeistkirche Basel (concert series for organ and piano music), Kulturraum H95, Grande Société Berne, Pianolounge Aarau and others. In December 2019 he performed together with the singer Arion Rudari F. Schubert's Winterreise at the Casino Bern. In February 2020 he performed and recorded at the Elisabethenkirche Basel J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations (BWV 988). Duo recitals in Portugal. Participation in festivals such as En Blanc et Noir and Seeds Festival in France and Switzerland.

Lukas Loss works as a private piano teacher and has also taught in schools such as Sternenfeld in Birsfelden, Musikschule Kölliken in Aarau and others.
