Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin (Conductor)

Born: 1962 - Vicenza, Italy

The Italian conductor and composer, Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin, inspired by his father Giacomo, also a musician, began studying piano and organ at the age of 11 with Maestro Mino Dal Cengio. Subsequently he continued his studies under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Cozza, with whom he graduated in Choral Music and Choir Conducting at the Conservatorio di Musica "Cesare Pollini" di Padova in 1988. He later attended composition courses with Maestro Pierangelo Valtinoni.

Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin was organist at Chiesa di Povolaro in Dueville, Vicenza (1972-1977); Chiesa Arcipretale in Bolzano (1977-1980); Chiesa Parrocchiale in Bressanvido, Vicenza (1978-1980). He served as choir director at Chiesa di Bressanvido in Bressanvido, Vicenza (1996-1998); Chiesa San Marco di Vicenza in Vicenza, (1998-1999); Abbazia di Sant'Agositno in Vicenza (2012-2015).

In 1988 Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin also founded the “J.S. Bach Ensemble” composed of polyphonic choir, Baroque orchestra. With the participation of soloists such as Pierfrancesco Battistella (violin), Paolo Ventura (tenor), and Pierluigi Zordan (baritone) he conducted numerous concerts by Antonio Vivaldi but above all by J.S. Bach such as the Sacred Cantatas for soloists, choir and orchestra, the Orchestral Suites, the Concertos for violin and string orchestra and the Brandenburg Concertos (BWV 1046-1051).

From this experience, Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin set up in July 1992 the Accademia Musicale Vicentina “J.S. Bach”, an organization which, unlike the previous one, aims to spread classical music in a more articulated and detailed way: in fact, the concert activity with the prevailing use of the orchestra of the A.M.V. “J.S. Bach” which now also embraces symphonic repertoires (Frédéric Chopin's Concerto No 1 in E minor Op.11 for piano and orchestra with pianist Bruno Volpato; Felix Mendelssohn's Concerto in D minor for violin and string orchestra with the violinists Massimo Bacci and Pierfrancesco Battistella; W.A. Mozart's Symphony No. 40) and operatic repertoires (Opera Recital with one or more soloists and orchestra - Operette) and which from a logistical point of view also provides for collaboration with other instrumental and vocal realities. The new structure seeks to promote the dissemination and knowledge of classical music also from an educational point of view.

Currently Giovanni Leonardo Lorenzin is mainly dedicated to the activity of composer. He writes for piano, organ and orchestra.
