Jack Lantz (Choral Conductor)

Born: 1947 - USA

The American choral conductor, Jack D. Lantz, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Yale University (1965-1969); and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in General Management from and Harvard University Business School (1977-1979).

In the business field, Jack Lantz was Plant General Manager at Avery-Dennison Corporation in Monrovia, Californi (1979-1982); Executive Vice President & COO in Los Angeles, California (1982-1989); Director and Member of Board of Directors of Miyachi Corporation, Tokyo Stock Exchange Listed Company (1996-2006); Supervisory Director at Unitek Eapro BV in Helmond, The Netherlands (1995-August 2006); President & CEO of Miyachi Unitek Corporation (Amada Miyachi America), a multinational high-tech manufacturing company in Monrovia, California (1989-April 2013). Since April 2013, he is Founder & CEO at Prospect Park Strategy Group. Since January 2014, he is Member Board Of Directors at Magnesium Alloy Products Co in Compton, California.

In the music field, Jack Lantz has conducted, written for, and performed in choral and instrumental organizations, and directed theatre throughout the USA and Asia. He was Director of Music at Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia, California (1981-1995); Guest Conductor of Burbank Philharmonic (2011-2012). Since 1981, he is Director & Manager of the Jack Lantz Big Band, based in Pasadena, California. The band performs both traditional and up-to-date Big Band Swing music featuring music from the Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman bands among many others, as well as contemporary favorites of all styles ranging from swing standards and ballads, to Latin tunes of all styles, to rock and other contemporary rhythms, and to traditional and contemporary Gospel arrangements. The band has played throughout Southern California and Las Vegas for charity concerts and balls, civic festivals, a myriad of private parties, concerts, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and club functions. The band has backed the great names in jazz, including, most recently performing as the Dream Band behind Terry Gibbs, and Little Peggy March. Recently the band performed and recorded the Duke Ellington Concert of Sacred Music with the Southern California Choral Society, which started a renewal of interest in this work throughout southern California. It has also recorded annual albums in recent years. Annually the band performs for the Hollywood Charity Horse Show hosted by William Shatner.

Since April 2009, Jack Lantz is Director of Music and Worship Arts at La Canada Presbyterian Church in La Canada Flintridge, California. He Directs a broad 300 participant music and worship arts ministry of traditional and contemporary praise music consisting of graded choir program including children, youth and adult choirs, praise band, symphony orchestra, handbells, drama ministry and media ministry. Ovations Art series presents ten annual programs including concerts, dramas and plays, musicals and annual Pops program.

Since January 2016, Jack Lantz is also Member Board of Directors at Episcopal Communities and Services for Seniors in Monrovia, California. He also enjoys model trains and Japanese woodblock prints. He is married to Paulette, a retired first grade teacher.
