Ensemble Bach São Paulo (Vocal & Instrumental Ensemble)

Born: November 2017 - São Paulo, Brazil

During the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, musician friends decided to create a group to perform cantatas by J.S. Bach. This group led by Luiz Fernando Sahd conductor and baritone, Regina Schlochauer harpsichordist and pianist and Professor Marília Pini violist, thought of a chamber group for the realization of Cantata Ich habe Genug BWV 82 and Cantata Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen BWV 56. For the realization of these cantatas, they invited Professor Gilson Barbosa oboe and put together an orchestra with young musicians, violinists Victor Tamarindo and Ricardo Proiete, Professor Fábio Pelegatti, cellist, and also bassist Professor Ricardo Busatto. This was the primordial formation for the realization of the Cantata Ich habe Genug BWV 82.

With the success of this cantata, they were asked to perform a cantata with choir, orchestra and soloists. They then performed their second cantata, Cantata Jesu der du meine Seele BWV 78, thus creating Madrigal Bach. And so they created a provisional name for the orchestral group, which was renamed Ensemble Bach. In this new formation, it was necessary to change musicians, due to the possibilities of their participation, and so the violinist Samara Gama replaced the violinist Ricardo Proiete. In this cantata, Professor Karina Inoue, flautist, and oboist Raquel Mônica Gonçalves joined the Ensemble Bach and vocal soloists Solange Gonçalves, soprano, Teresa Longatto, alto, Alexandre Bialecki, tenor, and Luiz Fernando Sahd, baritone. Madrigal Bach was conducted under the direction of Maestrina Teresa Longatto.

Ending the year, they performed Cantata Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen BWV 56. As the presentations they were at the Igreja da Paz (a Lutheran church on Rua Verbo Divino in São Paulo) and the project was also conceived with them, in addition to the Ensemble Bach and the baritone Luiz Fernando Sahd, this cantata that has a choir in its final part, Coral Mensageiros da Paz, a choir of members of the Igreja da Paz, participated in the cantata, and also on this occasion, oboist Victor Hugo played the third oboe. The orchestral direction of the Ensemble Bach was always carried out by Maestro Luiz Fernando Sahd.

As the Ensemble Bach is a group of musical excellence, on November 27, 2017 the Ensemble Bach São Paulo (= EBSP) was founded and also the Madrigal Bach São Paulo, which intends to become a group specialized in Baroque music until the end of the classical period . The Ensemble Bach São Paulo is conducted by Maestro Luiz Fernando Sahd; and Madrigal Bach São Paulo is conducted by Maestrina Teresa Longatto. The Ensemble and the Madrigal Bach São Paulo rehearse at the Fundação Esterhazá.
