Dutch Baroque Orchestra (Baroque Orchestra)

Founded: The Netherlands

Dutch Baroque Orchestra is a professional orchestra, consisting of a permanent core of young (internationally) renowned Baroque specialists; musicians of the highest level. Versatile, inspiring and innovative, dedicated to music from the 17th and 18th centuries. In addition to this fixed core of musicians, the orchestra is supplemented with young musicians who have just left the conservatory.

The main goal of the orchestra is to perform well-known and unknown early music, with attention in the broadest sense to the authentic performance practice. To this end, source research, highly qualified musicians, (copies of) authentic instruments, 'Urtext' scores and a specialized artistic director are indispensable. That is the basis to get as close as possible to a score-based, in scientific research rooted (authentic) performance, and thus to the most intense experience for both performers and listeners.
