Deutsche Händel-Solisten (Baroque Orchestra)

Born: 1985 - Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The Deutsche Händel-Solisten were founded in 1985 on the occasion of the European Year of Music and the 300th birthday of George Frideric Handel for the International Händel-Festspiele founded by the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. The intention was to optimally support the reception of G.F. Handel's works and that of his contemporaries with a body of sound that reflects the performance conditions of the early 18th century through the instruments used.

The orchestra is made up of specialists from the European music scene - as soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians they play in various top ensembles of historical performance practice. University professors and lecturers who teach at German and foreign universities of music are among the Deutsche Händel-Solisten. Over the years there have been guest performances all over Europe, and a number of exemplary CD recordings have been created with important conductors for early music such as Charles Farncombe, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Nicholas McGegan, Roy Goodman, Arnold Östman and Andreas Spering.

The Staatstheater Karlsruhe is the only multi-section house in Germany to afford this festival orchestra annually and, in addition to the productions of the in-house Badische Staatskapelle, the performances of the Deutsche Händel-Solisten ensure a lively and exciting reception of Baroque works.
