Cantoria Plagensis is the large oratorio choir, recruited by the Stiftskapellmeister der Abtei Schlägl for performances from his work with several ensembles. The name derives from the Latin word for Synoym Schlägl = Plaga and the action of the choir, at the the Praemonstratenserabtei Schlägl in northern Austria, near the Czech border.
The members of Cantoria Plagensis come from the Kammerchor Schlägl, the former Mühlviertler Singkreis and the participants of the International Music Seminars in Schlägl. For vocal consort training in the solo parts, there is the Collegium Musicum Plagense.
Together with major orchestras, especially with historical instruments, the Cantoria Plagensis, which consists of of 20 to 60 singers, perform "sound of music in the time" with their director Rupert Gottfried Frieberger works from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods, and contemporary repertoire in the corresponding number of singers.
Successful concerts, radio and CD productions, including in cooperation with WDR and ORF. Live broadcasts in ORF and ZDF. Concert tours and festival participants, such as in 1994 European Weeks in Passau and the Scandinavian Music Festival in Sorø / Denmark, in 1999 concert tour to Venice, with appearances at the Markus Cathedral and at the Frarikirche as well as in the Cathedral of Bassano, in 2002 performance at the Hofkirche in Dresden. |
