Willem Botter (Choral Conductor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch choral conductor, Williem Botter, was the first conductor of the Christelijke Gemengde Zangvereniging Valerius (1945-1953). For more than 25 years he functioned as organist/cantor of the Paasberg Church in Arnhem. He was a well-known and influential organist at the time, and his opinion was listened to. For example, he disapproved of an organ of the Nederlandse Hervormde Gemeente in Westervoort and advised the churchwardens to put it up for sale. He was also conductor of Christelijke Oratorium Vereniging (C.O.V.) Arnhem for a short time.
