Hans-Michael Beuerle (Conductor)

Born: Berlin, Germany

The German conductor, Hans-Michael Beuerle, studied in Frankfurt/Main (at first music for school teachers, then violin, conducting, musicology, German language and literature studies and philosophy) and earned his doctorate (PhD) with a study about Johannes Brahms' a-cappella works for choir.

From 1971 to 1972 Hans-Michael Beuerle was in charge of the boy's choir Laubacher Kantorei. From 1973 to 1977 he had a university teaching position for choir conducting at the academy of music in Trossingen, from 1977 to 1980 he was a professor at the conservatory in Karlsruhe and in 1980 he was appointed a professorship for choir and orchestra conducting at the conservatory in Freiburg.

Since 1966 Hans-Michael Beuerle has been in charge of the Kammerchor Frankfurt. In spring 1991 the domicile of this meanwhile professional ensemble, which changed its name into Anton Webern Chor, was transferred to Freiburg.

In 1983 Hans-Michael Beuerle succeeded Theodor Egel as the artistic director of the Freiburger Bachchor and the Freiburg Bach Orchestra. With guest performances of his own ensembles, as a guest conductor and as teacher of professional courses, Hans-Michael Beuerle visited almost all European countries, Japan and the USA.
