Bachkoorgent (Chamber Choir)

Born: 2017 - Gent (Ghent), Belgium

The Bachkoorgent (Bach Choir Gent) was founded in September 2017. A few passionate singers also wanted the rich J.S. Bach tradition to live on in the beautiful city of Gent. There was already a custom for many years to perform the grand repertoire of this grandmaster here and there, various choirs ventured into interpretations of his known works. Yet there appeared to be room for a team that focuses on the inexhaustible repertoire, and especially on the lesser-known gems. J.S. Bach wrote more music than we can imagine in a lifetime… but this new choir will at least try to get rid of forgotten works.

In addition, this group will annually perform J.S. Bach's Magnum Opus, the Johannes-Passion BWV 245, during Holy Week.

The Director of Bachkoorgent is Steve De Veirman.
