Æelbgut (Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: 2018 - Germany

Uniting soloistic musical performance with transparant ensemble singing is the grand cause of Ælbgut. Working together on the complete recording of Heinrich Schütz under with Hans-Christoph Rademann, soprano Isabel Schicketanz, alto Stefan Kunath and baritone Martin Schicketanz soon developed an exceptional consonance in tonal and musical ideas. To pursue their passion for compositions of the 16th and early 17th centuries more independently, they consequently founded their own ensemble in 2018. For this purpose, they invite valued friends and collegues on project basis who share their idea of presenting music as vividly and authentically possible whilst never losing sight of the word. Therr recording of J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) on Coviello Classics (February 2020) is both first result and founding stone of Ælbgut.
