Born: July 24, 1724 - Holzsußra, near Sondershausen, Thuringia, Germany
Died: December 9, 1762 - Schlotheim, Thuringia, Germany

Georg Christoph Wilhelm Zimmermann was born the son of August Heinrich Zimmermann (Pastor in Holzsußra). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 17, 1743; and studied there from 1743. As a Thomaner he was in Choir II from May 17, 1744 (Pentecost) to June 6, 1745 (Pentecost). Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he joined the military; and died as a lawyer.
