Gottfried Vopelius (Hymn-Writer, Composer)

Born: January 28, 1645 - Herwigsdorf, now a district of Rosenbach, Oberlausitz, Saxony, Germany
Died: February 3, 1715 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

Gottfried Vopelius was a German Lutheran academic and hymn-writer, mainly active in Leipzig. He is primarily remembered for the Neu Leipziger Gesangbuch (NLGB; New Leipzig Hymnal) which he published in 1682.
