Johann Samuel Thieme (Bach's Pupil)

Born: c1708 - Belgern, Saxony, Germany
Died: May 7, 1763 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

Johann Samuel Thieme was born the son of Paul Thieme (tailor in Belgern). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 16, 1722; studied there from 1722 to 1730, already as external since March 12, 1722; and at Universität Leipzig from 1729. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. His younger brother, Johann Gottlieb Thieme (1711-unknown), was also a Thomaner (1727-1734)
