Johann Heinrich Rudorf [Rudorff] was born the son of Johann Heinrich Rudorf (Pastor in Nischwitz). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on October 11, 1743; studied there from 1743 to 1747, since 1742 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1747. As a Thomaner he was in Choir IV (in St. Peter's Church) from May 17, 1744 (Pentecost) to June 6, 1745 (Pentecost). Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he was Informant with Pastor Oernster in Wolteritz from 1751 (see C.F. Oernster, Thomasschule 1754); Pastor in Hayna from 1753, substituted in 1800. His younger bother, August Wilhelm Rudorf (1733-1797), was also a Thomaner (1745-1752). |
