Johann August Rockstroh enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 13, 1723; studied there from 1723 to 1729, since since April 2, 1723 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him.
