David Salomon Reichardt (Copyist, Rector, Bach's Pupil)

Born: August 27, 1710 - Borna, near Leipzig, Saxony, Germany
Died: 1766 - Zeitz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

David Salomon Reichardt was born to Georg Caspar Reichardt (servant in Borna). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 4, 1726; studied there from 1726 to 1733; and at Universität Leipzig in 1733. J.S. Bach reported (August, 23, 1730): “usable for 1st Choir (figural music)”. He was one of J.S. Bach's copyists from 1726 to 1727, appearing in the manuscripts as Anon. IIIf. After his studies, he was Magister in Wittenberg (1737), and deputy rector in Zeitz (1741).
