Johann Heinrich Hillmeyer (Kantor, Organ, Bach's Pupil)

Died: 1785 - Lunzenau, Saxony, Germany

Johann Heinrich Hillmeyer was born to Martin Hillmeyer (miller in Geringswalde). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 16, 1729; and studied there from 1729 to 1733. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (1730): “not yet ready to be used in the 1^st choir (figural music)”. After his studies, he served as Kantor and organist in Lunzenau, Saxony from 1742 until his death in 1785.
