Christoph Gottlob Fritzsche was born the son of Christoph Fritzsche (messenger in Zeitz). In 1744/1745 he was pupil of Johann Ludwig Krebs (A-20) in Zeitz. He studied at Universität Leipzig (enrollment on March 25, 1747) and was a pupil of J.S. Bach and Johann Schneider (A-11). In 1748 he applied unsuccessfully for the organist office at St. Wenzel in Naumburg. Further whereabouts unexplained.
Christoph Gottlob Fritsche's lessons with J.S. Bach were mentioned by his father in the context of the application to Naumburg in 1748. Like Johann Friedrich Drobisch (A-51), Fritzsche was probably recommended to J.S. Bach by his teacher Johann Ludwig Krebs.
