Gerry Zimmemann (Baritone)

Born: May 10, 1997 - Berlin, Germany

The German baritone, Gerry Zimmermann, had the opportunity to gain solo experience in the Staats- und Domchor Berlin. He is studying concert singing and singing education (Bachelor and Master degrees) in Jörg Hempel's class at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden (2016-2021). He received further inspiration in Kammersänger Olaf Bär's Lied class and in the master-classes of Charlotte Lehmann and Alexander Schmalcz. In 2018, he reached the final of the Bundeswettbewerbs Gesang in the “Junior” category.

Gerry Zimmermann gained his first stage experience in the university production Gianni Schicchi in the role of the notary and as Harry Easter in Kurt Weil's Street Scene. He was also, among other things, engaged by the Landesbühnen Sachsen as Papageno in a short version of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. He has been a member of the Opernstudio der Theater Chemnitz since the 2022-2023 season (August 2022). He has already been heard there, among other things in Harvey Schmidt's musical I do! I do! and made his role debut as Kilian in Weber's Der Freischütz. In the 2023-2024 season he will be seen as Dancaire in Georges Bizet's Carmen., among others.

Another passion of Gerry Zimmermann is concert performance. He regularly appears as a soloist in numerous oratorios and cantatas such as: B. in Carl Heinrich Graun's Der Tod Jesu, in J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 or as Christ in Johannes-Passion BWV 245. He was also able to gain further experience in the Dresden concert series Kantaten im Palais under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann. A highlight of his career to date is a song recital at the Semperoper, in which he, among other things, interpreted Lieder by Udo Zimmermann. In April 2021, he released his first song album with his Lieder partner Maximilian Otto titled "Von Göttern und der Liebe". He is also a member of the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann). He currently lives in Dresden, Saxony.
