Christian Zenker (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Christian Zenker, started his musical education in the boys choir Windsbach; vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich. During his studies first scenic experiences As Pedrillo in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Junker Spärlich in Die Lustigen Weiber Von Windsor, Albert Herring in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring And King Arthur (King Arthur). He is the winner of the sponsorship of the Friends of the Tiroler Landestheater.

Christian Zenker has been a member of the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck (stage director Brigitte Fassbaender) since 2002, as Spieltenor and lyrical tenor with roles as Jacquino in L.v. Beethoven Fidelio, Pedrillo and Belmonte in Die Entführung Aus Dem Serail. He he has a comprehensive concert repertoire; CD-recordings with the Bavarian broadcasting company. As a member of the ensemble as lyric tenor at the Landestheater Linz since autumn 2006, among others as Symon in Bettelstudent, Cassio in Otello, Lehrer Michael Wurdinger in Das Testament by Wilhelm Kienzl.

Since 2009 Christian Zenker is a freelance singer. He had engagement in the role of Der Grossmütige Tomyris in Tigranes, Feldherr der Messageten in Stadttheater Gießen; guest engagement in Teofane at Händelfestspiele Halle (Saale). in 2011-2012. Numerous guest engagements have taken him to Opernfestspiele Schloss Rheinsberg, Seefestspiele Mörbisch, Dresdner Musikfestspielen, Oberösterreichische Stiftskonzerte, Europäischen Festwochen Passau as well as at Bonn Opera, Opera Graz, Gießen, Klagenfurt, Krefeld/Mönchengladbach, at the Opera Nikosia and Limassol at Cyprus, at Theater an der Wien and at the Bartok-Festival in Szombathely/Hungary. In 2012-2013 he sang in W.A. Mozart's Betulia liberata at Grein and Malaga; in 2014 guest engagement as Osman in Almira at Händelfestspiele Halle (Saale) under the baton of Andreas Spering and appearance at the Telemann Festtage in Magdeburg.

Various CD recordings with known labels such as Oehms Classics and Sony/BMG Arte Nova, followed by a new recording of W.A. Mozart's earlier azione sacra and Betulia liberata in the role of Ozia with the label Harmonia Mundi Germany in 2012.
