Leonie Zehle (Soprano)

Born: October 3, 1986 - Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German soprano, Leonie Zehle, studied at the Hermann Hesse-Gymnasium in Calw (Class of 2006). She studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart with Thomas Pfeiffer und Turid Karlsen (Class of 2013). A year abroad took her to the Hochschule der Künste Bern and the Opernstudio Biel, where she received lessons from Janet Perry. In addition, she was also a contact student at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz in the Barock Vokal Studies program. She deepened her knowledge in master-classes with Monika Mauch, Birgid Steinberger, Andreas Scholl and Claudia Eder. Since her graduation she works with Sibylla Rubens. She received a scholarship from the Geschwister Büschbell-Stiftung and the DOMSStiftung Basel and was awarded a Germany Scholarship. In 2013, she received a special prize at the PodiumJungerGesangsSolisten in Zwickau. In 2015, she was a prize-winner at the nternationalen Gesangswettbewerb cantateBach in Greifswald.

As a concert singer, Leonie Zehle is already a sought-after interpreter. Her concert career includes a wide repertoire from the Renaissance to New Music performances. In addition, she is a member of various choirs and ensembles, including Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann). So she has sung under the direction of Ton Koopman, Michael Alber, Frieder Bernius and Hans-Christoph Rademann, among others. In addition, she worked on a project basis in the Chor der Zeitoper der Staatsoper Stuttgart. She currently lives in Stuttgart, Germany.
