Sinan Vural (Baritone)

Born: Ankara, Turkey

The Turkish baritone, Sinan Vural, received an academic degree in Computer Science from Ankara Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi (1976-1983) before becoming a singer. He first took voice lessons with Yildiz Tunbul in Ankara, Turkey. He then moved to Holland, where he first studied with Anne Haenen at the Conservatory in Enschede (1991-1997), and subsequently with Cora Canne Meijer at the New Opera Academy within the Conservatory of Amsterdam (1998-2000). He currently works with vocal coach Margreet Honig.

Sinan Vural's first roles in operas were in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, W.A. Mozart's Così Fan Tutte and Georg Philipp Telemann's Pimpinone. The last few seasons he has performed in Donizetti's Don Pasquale with Internationale Operaproducties, The Beastly Bombing by Nitzberg/Neill with Opera aan het IJ in Amsterdam, De Waterman by Hans Koolmees with Muziektheater Hollands Diep in Dordrecht, Holland and Stuyvesant Zero by Caroline Ansink with Opera Spanga, Friesland. He is one of the frequent singers of Holland Opera in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, and has performed in a great number of their productions (December 2002-January 2013): H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Monteverdi's Orfeo, H. Purcell's King Arthur, The Black and the Beautiful by S.Aziz/F.Merkies, Feeks by le Clercq/van Geel, The Tempest by Purcell/Meijering and Romeo en Zeliha by F. Merkies.

Sinan Vural is also in the artistic team of, and performs regularly with Opera per Tutti (since September 2007), a series of concerts with operatic repertory aiming at bringing opera to wider audiences. His repertoire further includes many oratorio works such as Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 and Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and numerous cantatas by J.S. Bach, Requiems by W.A. Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, Johannes Brahms, as well as more contemporary works like La Danse des Morts by Arthur Honegger.

Sinan Vural frequently gives song recitals, with a particular preference for French works, and has a long-term collaboration with pianist Nicholas Ross. In 2011 his recording of Arthur Honegger: Mélodies et Chansons in collaboration with soprano Claudia Patacca and pianist Nicholas Ross has been issued by Centaur Records.

Since September 2014, Sinan Vural has also been Teacher of Solo Singing at the Conservatorium Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tiburg He currently lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
