Maria Tosenko (Contralto)

Born: St. Petersburg, Russia

The Russian contralto, Maria Tosenko (Russian: Мария Тосенко), completed her music studies at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. During the last two years of her studies there, she already worked in parallel at the Musorgski Opera House. A postgraduate course took her to Düsseldorf, where she passed the final exam in 2003 with honors.

In 2005, Maria Tosenko performed the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola and Hänsel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel at the Operettenbühne Berlin. After three years as a permanent employee at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg, she moved in 2007 to Dresden. From 2008 to 2013, she was a permanent member of the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann). During this time she took lessons from Britta Schwarz. During this period, she also worked as an opera, concert and oratorio singer.

Since 2014, Maria Tosenko is a soloist in the oratorio field. She sang, for example, Heinrich Schütz' Musikalische Exequien with Domkantor Jörg Bräunig at the Meißener Dom, a solo concert with Kantorin Margret Leidenberger (Versöhnungskirche-Dresden), Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, Dvorak's Mass in D major and W.A. Mozart's Requiem with Kantor Burkhard Rüger (Christuskirche Dresden), Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël (alto solo) at the Kirche in Dresden-Leubnitz, Johannespassion by Johannes Weyrauch and W.A. Mozart's Requiem at the Thomas-Kirche Dresden with Kantorin Astrid Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn's Lauda sion with KMD Sandro Weigert (Auferstehungskirche Dresden-Plauen), Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria with Kantorin Katharina Reibiger (Himmelfahrtskirche Dresden), J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248/1-3 in Zittau with Kantorin Katrin Bethke, in Dippoldiswalde with KMD Gunter Brückner and in Plauen with Kantorin Susanne Häußler, J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 79 & BWV 80 with Peter Kleinert. In 2016, she made her debut at the Schostakowitsch-Festival in Gorisch.
