Mauri Tetreault (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Natick, Massachusetts, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Mauri Tetreault, Tetreault earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Lowell and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory. She has also studied and performed partial roles at Bel Canto Arts Academy and with The Coaching Divas, and currently studies voice with Dana Schnitzer.

Mauri Tetreault performs a wide variety of repertoire with opera companies throughout New England. This May, she makes her Hartford Opera Theater debut singing Miss Todd in The Old Maid & The Thief and Miss Dara in An Embarrassing Position, a new opera by Dan Shore. This season, she also appeared in the East Coast premiere of composer Mary D. Watkins’ Dark River with the Mt. Holyoke Symphony Orchestra. Other recent engagements include the title role in Georges Bizet's Carmen and Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Greater Worcester Opera), Giannetta in Elixir of Love (Longwood Opera), The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Worcester Opera Works and Just Love to Sing), Amneris in Aida (Opera Un-Met), Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Lowell Opera), and Mahtwigwess the Rabbit in composer Gabriella Snyder’s Algonquin re-imagining of Cinderella (Gabriela Synder Productions/Mass Theatrica).

On the concert stage, Mauri Tetreault has has appeared as Alto Soloist in Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria with Paul Madore Chorale, and in George Frideric Handel’s Messiah with Opera Un-Met. In March 2015, she performed a shared recital at The Beethoven Society in Melrose, Massachusetts. Also an accomplished ensemble singer, she sings regularly with many fine organizations in the Boston area. After many seasons on the ensemble roster at Opera Boston, she was selected to participate in Odyssey Opera’s inaugural concert production of Richard Wagner’s rarely heard operatic masterpiece Rienzi, and also appeared in their fully-staged production of Verdi’s Un Giorno di Regno, both under the baton of Gil Rose. Also with Gil Rose, she has also appeared with Boston Modern Orchestra Project in Virgin Thompson’s Four Saints, Three Acts. She has also sung with Heritage Chorale, Seele Musicale, Heritage Chorale, and Spectrum Singers, and is on the roster with the Copley Singers and Opera On Tap.

Mauri Tetreault now makes her home in the greater Worcester area where she lives with her family and maintains a busy private voice studio. When she is not onstage, she can be found outside gardening.
