The Canadian tenor and violist, Arthur Tanguay-Labrosse, began his musical training at the age of 7 at the École Le Plateau, where he learned the violin. At 16, he
added viola to his string instruments. Hae excelled with this instrument at the Victoriaville Competition, where he won a second prize as a soloist and a first prize in chamber music, as a member of a still active string quartet. He has also been a member of the Orchestre National des Jeunes du Canada. At the age of 17, he began singing studies at Cégep de St-Laurent in the class of Cecile Gendron. He then studied two years at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal with Aline Kutan and Adrienne Savoie and left school in 2013 to perfect with tenor Gus Chrysson.
Arthur Tanguay-Labrosse is one of the most promising tenors of his generation. As a soloist and choir member, he has sung with several ensembles, including the Chœur polyphonique de Montréal, Chanteurs du Brouhaha, Harmonie Vocale de St-Hyacinthe, Ensemble Vocal de St-Eustache, Chœur Vivace and Chœur du Conservatoire de Musique de Montréa, as well as Cchœur du Les Grands Ballets (Director: Jean-Sébastien Allaire), Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montreal (Director: Andrew McAnerney), Ensemble Caprice (Director: Matthias Maute), Montréal Baroque (Director: Eric J. Milnes), Chœur Bella Voce.(Director: James Copland), The Choir of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul (Director: Jean-Sébastien Vallée). He currently lives in Montréal, Québec, Canada. |
