Miriam Stoner (Soprano)

Born: September 26, 1991 - Bellefontaine, Ohio, USA

The American soprano, Miriam Frances Stoner, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Ohio Northern University (ONU) (2009-2013); and her Master of Music degree in Cocal Performance and Opera from Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) (2013-2015). She studies with Janet Steele and Marijo Newman.

At ONU, Miriam Stoner performed Mabel in scenes from Pirates of Penzance), Violetta in La Traviata, and Susanna in Carlyle Floyd’s opera Susanna. She soloed with the ONU Symphony Orchestra, the ONU Jazz Ensemble, and the ONU Men’s Chorus. She earned the Theodore Presser Award and the Cantari Award for Outstanding Vocalist. Her teacher there was Kirsten Osbun Manley who initially sparked her interest in studying Classical Music. Her CIM credits include Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Oberto in W.A. Mozart's Alcina, Spirit and Chorus in Dido and Aeneas, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and Werther. She appeared with the Great Lakes Light Opera, as Alice in Alice in Operaland, Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. At CIM, she studied with Dr. Mary Schiller. She then sang Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica with the Central Florida Lyric Opera, and participated in the Varna International Music Academy and the University of Miami Frost School of Music Program in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria.

Since moving to New York, Miriam Stoner sang "Pie Jesu" in the Gabriel Fauré's Requiem and reprised the role of Papagena in The Magic Flute at Opera America. She had multiple engagements with the Westchester Oratorio Society (Director: Benjamin Niemczyk) including W.A. Mozart's Requiem, J.S. Bach’s Cantatas Wir danken dir, Gott (BWV 29); Nun komm der Heiden Heiland (BWV 61); and Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (BWV 140). She also made her Broadway debut as Mama Judy in The Goldfish from Pluto.
