Filomena Solimando (Soprano)

Born: 1991 - Stigliano, Province of Matera, Basilicata, Italy.

The Italian soprano, Filomena Solimando, obtained a three-year degree in Religious Science at the branch office in Potenza of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy on December 2, 2017 with a thesis on liturgical music, and a master's degree from the same institute on November 28, 2018 with a thesis on Mozart in contemporary theology through two contemporary theologians: Karl Barth and Hans Urs von Balthasar. In the meantime she began her studies in opera singing at the Conservatory of Music "Gesualdo da Venosa" in Potenza, studying the first years with M ° Valeria Esposito and then in the three years with M ° Antonio Giovannini, counter-tenor active at international level. She graduated with a three-year degree with maximum marks in 2020, she is currently enrolled in the two-year course under the guidance of the same teacher.

Filomena Solimando has participated in several opera singing master-classes with world-class singers, including soprano Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz and baritone Roberto Scandiuzzi. She participated as first soprano in the choir of the Conservatory "Gesualdo da Venosa" of Potenza in the productions of Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni in 2018 and of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi in 2019. She collaborates with the Accademia Ducale Centro Studi Musicali of Pietragalla as a teacher and soprano soloist and is a teacher of vocality at the Diocesan Choir "Laetitia" of Potenza-Muro Lucano-Marsico Nuovo.

Filomena Solimando has performed several times as a solo soprano in various concerts, including the world premiere of Stava li la Madre for soprano, tenor, string quintet, piano, percussion, clarinet and trumpet, composition by Giuseppe D'Amico at the inside the Festival of Sacred Music "Sursum Corda" promoted by the Accademia Ducale Centro Studi Musicali and sponsored by the Chamber of Deputies and held in Pietragalla (Potenza) in 2019. Also in 2019, the year that saw Matera as the capital of culture, she participated as soprano soloist at various events sponsored by the "Matera 2019" foundation. She has collaborated as a solo soprano in concerts held by "Basilicata Circuito Musicale" at the Francesco Stabile Theater in Potenza. She performed in opera galas in the summer of 2018 in Maiori, Minori and Atrani (Salerno), and in Venosa (Potenza) under the patronage of the "Gustav Mahler" Academy founded by Maestro Claudio Abbado. She also sang in concerts as a solo soprano with the choir of the diocese of Potenza-Muro Lucano-Marsico Nuovo and the Laetitia orchestral ensemble at the Cathedral of San Gerardo di Potenza and at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Canio Vescovo of Acerenza (Potenza) with the Musical Chapel "Acerenza Citta Cattedrale" directed by Maestro Carmine Lavinia.
