Dmitry Skorikov (Bass)

Born: Ruza, Moscow Oblast, Russia

The Russian bass, Dmitry Skorikov [Russian: Дмитрий Скориков], graduated from the Academic Music College of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, сonducting and choral department, the class of professor I.G. Agafonnikova, later - the Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music by specialty “Solo singing” (the class of professor A.S. Belousova). In 2002 he was a prize-winner in the Belle Voce competition.

Since 2002 Dmitry Skorikov has been a soloist of the Helikon-opera theatre. On the theatre’s stage he has impersonated such parts as Don Pasquale (Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti), Falstaff (Falstaff by G. Verdi), Ramfis (Aida by G. Verdi), Kotchubey (Mazeppa by P.I. Tchaikovsky), Malyuta Skuratov (The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov), Vodník (Rusalka by A. Dvořák), Boris Godunov and Pimen (Boris Godunov by M. Mussorgsky), Don Bartolo (Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini), Salieri (Mozart and Salieri by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Timur (Turandot by G. Puccini), Ferrando (Il trovatore by G. Verdi) etc. Since 2011, he also been a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, making his debut as General Polkan in “The Golden Cockerel. He has been a guest artist with Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg since 2015, where he has worked with Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vassily Sinaisky and Mikhail Pletnev. Other opera houses in which he has performed include: the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre (Samara), the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre (Perm).

For the Bolshoi, Dmitry Skorikov has sung Tchelio (Love of Three Oranges) and General Polkan (The Golden Cockerel). He was the Master of Ceremonies for the 2014 Elena Obraztsova Opera Ball with Elena Obraztsova, with Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Angela Gheorghiu, Dmitry Korchak, Olga Borodina and Asmik Grigorian. Dmitry was also The Master of Ceremonies for the 2015 Elena Obraztsova Memorial Opera Ball with Anna Netrebko, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Maria Guleghina, Olga Peretyatko, José Cura, and Bruno Pratico. For St Petersburg, Dmitry has sung the title role in Don Pasquale, The Old Gipsy (Aleko), Don Bartolo, Colline and Vodnik (Rusalka).

Dmitry Skorikov was on tour in France, Spain, The Netherlands, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, China, South Korea, Thailand, Brazil. His engagements outside Russia include: Dr. Kolenaty (The Makropulos Affair) Grand Theatre, Miskolci Nemzetközi Operafesztivál "Bartók, Boris (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) for Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo, Brazil and for the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Pimen and Don Bartolo (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) Saaremaa Opera Days, The Kuressaare Castle Opera House, Estonia. Ramphis, Pimen and The High Priest (Nabucco) with Maria Guleghina as Abigaille for Opera de Massy. He has also sung as a guest artist with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Estonian National Opera and Opera Samara. In 2018 he covered both Boris Izmailov and The Priest at short notice for The Royal Opera Covent Garden.

He co-operates with different symphonic orchestras and folk instrument orchestras. He participated in projects with the world opera stars: Dmitri Hvorostovsky, A. Netrebko, Elena Obraztsova, D. Korchak, L. Kleikomb, R. Pape and also wish such outstanding conductors as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Mikhail Pletnev, V. Fedoseev, T. Currentzis, A. Pappano, Vladimir Jurowski, V. Ponkin, M. Tatarnikov, V. Sinaisky, E. Klas, Y. Bashmet, A. Sladkovsky.

Concert activity takes a significant place in Dmitry Skorikovy’s art. He regularly has solo concerts on the prestigious venues of Moscow and is touring over the Russian cities, performing old Russian romances, folk songs, chamber vocal compositions, arias from the operas, Russian and foreign pop-songs. He is the frequent guest in show “Romantika romansa” at the “Kultura” TV-channel, and in 2011, he released a solo recording “The Voice of Heart”. He currently lives in Moscow, Russia.

In 2017 Dmitry Skorikov was nominated for the prestigious National Theatre Award “The Golden Mask" (2016) for the best male role - Boris Timofeevich Izmailov in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk by Dmitri Shostakovich at the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre.
