Rainer Scheerer (Bass-Baritone)

Born: June 19, 1982 - Berlin, Germany

TheGerman bass-baritone, Rainer Scheerer, studied at the of Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin (2004-2010), where he obtained his Diploma in Music, Singing, Acoustics, Composition and Cleverness with final grade very good. In 2007 he was a prize-winner at the Kammeroper Schloß Rheinsberg and in 2009 he received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Verband Berlin.

After completing his studies, Rainer Scheerer, has been heard in many theaters. While still a student he made guest appearances at the Braunschweig State Theater (Kaspar in Der Freischütz) and at the Heidelberg Theater (Colline in La Bohéme). In addition, he sang in Italy at the Otello Teatro Forli in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and Ravel's L'Heure Espagnole. He has also made a name for himself as a concert singer.

In 2012 Rainer Scheerer was in Munich at the German premiere of Der Maler träumt by Wolfgang Rihm. He has taken part in performances of J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle and Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, among others. In October 2009, he sang the Canto General by M. Theodorakis in the live television broadcast of the '60 Years DGB' ceremony in the Konzerthaus Berlin. In 2010 he gave a series of concerts in Israel, including at the Tel-Aviv Art Center.

Rainer Scheerer id Founder (January 2001) and CEO of SPRINGSTOFF, which includes label, publishing, booking- and event agency and webshop. SPRINGSTOFF puts a special emphasis on education as in workshops and lectures as well as the support and promotion of women in music. He currently lives in Berlin.
