Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek (Soprano)

Born: Poland

The Polish soprano, Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek, graduated in 2002 with honours from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, the solo vocal class under Professor Dariusz Paradowski. Between 2002 and 2003, she continued her education in Flanders Operastudio in Ghent. She received the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage twice. She participated in master-classes taught by Anthony Rolfe-Johnson, R. Alderson, S. Friede, M. Brennan, K. Szostek-Radkowa, G. Kahry, R. Ruskov, M. Lenz, Z. Donat, Ch. Hampe, and Christian Elsner. In 2012, she obtained a doctorate degree in fine arts in the field of vocal arts. Currently, she is an assistant professor in the Institute of Music of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She is a laureate of numerous competitions, including the 1st Prize at the 5th F. Platówna Polish Vocal Competition in Wrocław, and the 1st Prize at the K. Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź.

Between 2004 and 2017 Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek was a soloist in the Warsaw Chamber Opera, where she played the main roles in several operas by W.A. Mozart (Vittelia in La clemenza di Tito, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Giunia in Lucio Silla, Sifare in Mitridate, re di Ponto, First Lady in Die Zauberflöte). She appeared as Lizetta during the premiere of I. Albertini’s Don Juan czyli ukarany libertyn (“Don Giovanni, or the Libertine Penalized”, 2013), and as Fiorilla in the revived Il Turco in Italia by G. Rossini (2016). Together with the Warsaw Chamber Opera she performed in France, Switzerland, and Japan. Thanks to her collaboration with the Capella Cracoviensis ensemble, she appeared in the famous staging of George Frideric Handel’s Amadigi, and then as Zosia in the Vilnius premiere of S. Moniuszko’s Halka (2017). She is a soloist at the Polish Royal Opera.

Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek has made numerous appearances at prestigious festivals, such as the International Wratislavia Cantans Festival (as Rowan in Benjamin Britten’s The Little Sweep), or the Baroque Festival of Ambronay. She’s toured many countries in Europe and Asia. She performed on stage in operas in Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Turnhout, Dijon, Avignon, Toulouse, Reims, Besancon, Versailles, Rennes, Brussels, Amsterdam, Bielefeld, and Saarbrücken. She performed during the premieres for e.g. the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and Ghent (Cupido in Diana de wraak van Cupido by Reinhard Keiser), Théâtre Montansier in Versailles (Melia in W.A. Mozart’s Apollo et Hyacinthus ), the Polish Opera (Pamina in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte ), or the Academy of Baroque Music Ambronay (Venus in Lully’s Cadmus et Hermione).

Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek's Her repertoire includes many songs and most oratorio and cantata parts from the works of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Antonio Vivaldi, Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L.v. Beethoven, Schubert, Gustav Mahler, Szymanowski, and Lutosławski. In 2016, she premiered all cycles of Józef Wieniawski’s songs in Lublin. Her performances have been conducted by eminent conductors, such as Rinaldo Alessandrini, Christophe Rousset, P. Rizzo, K. Kessels, Florian Heyerick, Agnieszka Duczmal, Jan Tomasz Adamus, W. Rodek, M. Pijarowski, R. Satanowski. She has collaborated with many orchestras, including: the Sinfonia Varsovia, Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra, Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, European Johann Strauss Orchestra, Capella Bydgostiensis, Capella Cracoviensis, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio.

Małgorzata Grzegorzewicz-Rodek has recorded for the French Radio and Television, and the ARTE TV channel. Her discography includes a recording with the music by W. Friemann, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. She has also recorded a premiere performance of M. Górecki’s Jasności promieniste accompanied by the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.
