Helgi Reynisson (Baritone)

Born: Uppsala, Sweden

The Swedish baritone, Helgi Reynisson, started his singing career in the Cathedral Boys’ Choir in Uppsala before starting to sing as a soloist. He has been privileged to receive several noteworthy scholarships including the Swedish Wagner Society’s Bayreuth Stipendium, the Anders Walls Giresta Stipendium and the Barbro Saléns scholarship. He studied at the Royal College of Music and the Opera College in Stockholm, where his principal teacher was Erik Årman. During his studies he sang the roles of Count Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Marcello in La bohème, while further exploring the roles of Papageno W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and the titles roles in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Eugene Onegin and Hamlet (Ambroise Thomas).

Helgi Reynisson is rapidly gaining significant experience in lead roles with professional companies. He has appeared at the Folkoperan in Stockholm as the Ghost Child in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Coraline and took the lead role of John Proctor in Robert Ward’s The Crucible at the Berlin Opera Academy. In 2018, he embarked upon a tour of Israel, appearing as a soloist with the Israel Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra. He has worked with conductors including Domingo Hindoyan, Anna-Maria Helsing, Tobias Ringborg and David Stern and stage directors including Deborah Cohen, Jennifer Williams and Stina Ancker.In the summer of 2021, he joins the Schloss Rheinsberg Chamber Opera near Berlin to sing Fernando in L.v. Beethoven’s Fidelio.

Helgi Reynisson has performed several times as both an actor and singer in front of the Swedish Royal Family, including at a gala performance for Carl XVI Gustav’s 70th birthday in 2016 and as a reciter at the Royal Castle for the Parliament Dinner in 2018. He signed to Nordic Artists Management in 2021.
