Sahy Ratianarinaivo (Tenor)

Born: November 4, 1991 - Antananarivo, Madagascar

The Malagasy tenor, Sahy Ratianarinaivo (Ratia) grew up in a family of musicians. Grandson of an organist and son of a choir director, he joined his church choir at the age of 15. He was introduced to classical music the day he decided to enter the Laka School of Music. He began to learn the basics of musical training and opera. In 2009, he joined the vocal ensemble Cantareunion where he had the chance to sing works such as Dixit Dominus by Antonio Vivaldi, conducted by Jean-Claude Malgoire. He also joined the troupe of the Théâtre Volard where he participated in creations of Creole operas such as Maraina et Chine composed and conducted by Jean Luc Trules. In 2012, he decided to continue his studies in France. He began to study at the Conservatoire du 16e Arrondissement and at the École du Chœur Grégorien in Paris. In 2014, he entered the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse in Paris and the Atelier Lyrique of Opera Fuoco where he worked with David Stern, Véronique Gens and Laurent Naouri. He participated in the creation of Nicolas Bacri's Cosi Fanciulli at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Sahy Ratianarinaivo has the chance to interpret the following oratorios: Coronation Mass, Short Mass in F major by W.A. Mozart; Stabat Mater by Rossini; Magnificat (BWV 243) and Johannes-Passion ( BWV 245) by J.S. Bach but also The Messiah by George Frideric Handel… He also performed roles in the operas L'Elisir d'Amore by Donizetti, Alcina by G.F. Handel, La Canterina by Haydn, Carmen by Georges Bizet and in the operettas Le Roi Pausole by Arthur Honegger, La Grande-duchesse de Gérolstein by Offenbach, Ciboulette by Reynaldo Hahn, La Fille de Madame by Charles le Coq and also Le Roi l’a dit by Léo Delibes. In June 2017, he obtained his DNSPM (Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien) with unanimous honors.
