Manuel Quintana (Baritone)

Born: June 5, 1988 - Infiesto, Asturias, Spain

The Spanish baritone, Manuel Quintana Aspra, began his studies of cello and singing at the Escolanía de Covadonga (Asturias). Graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Eduardo Martínez Torner" de Oviedo (Conservatory of Music of the Principality of Asturias; CONSMUPA) in the cello speciality in the classroom of Maite Andérez, he is also a student of the cellist Alexander Osokin, of the Moscow Virtuosi, with whom he expands his education. He has received vocal technique classes from professors such as Geert Bergs, Jasper Schweppe and Juan Noval, with whom he continues his training at present.

In 2007, Manuel Quintana joined the El León de Oro choir (LDO), directed by Marco Antonio García de Paz, with whom he has participated in numerous tours and projects. With LDO he has worked on numerous occasions with important directors and orchestras such as Peter Phillips (The Tallis Scholars) or Leopold Hager (Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg), among others. In 2011 he participated as a soloist in the recording of the integral for chorus by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari under the direction of maestro Friedrich Haider. He has been a member of the Choir of the Oviedo Opera. Since 2013 he collaborates with the choir Europa Chor Akademie (ECA) in Germany, under the orders of Joshard Daus. In 2014 he was selected to be part of the Young National Choir of Spain (JOCONDE). A year later, in 2015, he was selected for the TENSO EuropeChamberChoir project, with which he toured Europe, working with directors such as Kaspars Putninš and Paul Hillier. That same year he participated in the Música-Musika festival in Bilbao with the group Forma Antiqva and playing a solo role in the Johannes-Passion by George Frideric Handel. Since 2016 he has collaborated in the choral project Meesters & Gezellen, Holland, organized by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) and the Cappella Amsterdam and Nederlands Kamerkoor choirs, under the direction of Daniel Reuss and Sigvards Kļava. He is a founding member of the Aleph Vokalensemble group, which begins its activity in 2017. He has been collaborating since 2018 with the National Choir of Spain. He currently lives in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.
