Olle Persson (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Sweden

The Swedish bass-baritone, Olle Persson, is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, Stockholm.

Olle Persson, baritone, is one of Sweden's most sought-after and committed singers. With an unusually wide repertoire, he has appeared in almost all significant scenes in the Nordic countries. He has appeared in operatic roles such as Scarpia in Tosca, W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Otello and Figaro in The Barber of Seville. At Folkoperan, he has since 1987 been a regular guest soloist with over 10 main roles. In addition to the collaboration with Folkoperan, he has participated in a number of sets at the Royal Opera, Gothenburg Opera, Malmö Opera, Drottningholm Theater and Norrlands Opera.

Olle Persson is also a regular soloist with Swedish orchestras, both in performances of oratorios and passions and in contemporary works. In addition, he has very often been involved in premieres and newer repertoires. A dedicated recitalist, he has a broad repertoire which includes both Nordic romances and popular songs. His collaboration with guitarist Mats Bergström has won him acclaim, in particular for the guitar version of Schubert's Die Schöine Müllerin, which he has performed a number of times, both in Sweden and internationally.
