Andrea Pedrazzini (Organ, Piano, Conductor)

Born: 1992 - Bellinzona, Ticino Canton, Switzerland

The Swiss organist, pianist, conductor, and high school teacher, Andrea Pedrazzini, began studying piano at the Vivaldi Academy in Locarno at the age of 6 with Francesca Rivabene and then with maestro Michele Fedrigotti. During his scientific high school studies, he continued studying the instrument with maestro Leonardo Leonardi, a teacher for over 40 years at the Milan Conservatory, and theory with maestro Sergio Bianchi, taking the exams as a private student at the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan (2007-2012). In 2012, after the scientific high school diploma, he graduated in piano at the Conservatory of Brescia "Luca Marenzio" at the age of 19.

Andrea Pedrazzini started playing organ at the age of 9 as a self-taught he began to accompany the liturgical celebrations at the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso in Orselina. In September 2017 he began a course of study and improvement at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano with maestro Stefano Molardi obtaining in 2019 the Master in Organ Performance. He continues his training as a musician and choir director following specialization courses and master-classes with various teachers, including Michael Radulescu, Luisa Castellani, Davide Fior.

Over the years Andrea Pedrazzini has played not only as a solo organist and pianist, but also with chamber groups and orchestras in various concert festivals in Switzerland and abroad. He has played and collaborated with various vocal formations both in concert performances and in recordings, performing and recording world premieres especially of Swiss composers. He regularly gives concerts as a soloist or in chamber music ensembles in Switzerland (International Organ Festival of Magadino, Antegnati Festival of Bellinzona, Zürich, Schaffhausen), Italy (Milan, Varese, Piacenza, Veneto) and France. Particular attention is given to improvisation, often present in organ concert performances.

Titular organist at the Collegiate Church S. Antonio Abate in Locarno, in 2017 together with Ilic Colzani, organ builder of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo in Milan and former president of the Italian Organ Builders Association, he designed and built the restoration and expansion of the organ in the parish church of Brione s. Minusio of which he is also titular organist. On these instruments he organizes concerts of high artistic value, hosting important international concert artists year after year.

Alongside his training activity, he combines his professional career as a qualified federal accountant and music teacher at the cantonal high school of Bellinzona and the cantonal high school of Lugano 1 and the cantonal high school of Lugano 2 where he is also director of the choir and orchestra with which he performed in concert at the LAC in Lugano and La Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Andrea Pedrazzini conducts the Luceat Ensemble in Locarno, both with professional and amateur musicians, performing regularly Baroque Music during Christmas and Easter Masses and in concert. He is Artistic Director of the Association “Amici dell’Organo del Locarnese” (Friends of the Pipe Organ of Locarno) which collaborates with world-renowned organists such as Olivier Latry, member of the Board of Trustees of the Vivaldi Academy of Locarno and member of the committee of the Ticino Association of Organists.
