Rachel Naughtin (Soprano)

Born: USA

The American soprano, Rachel Naughtin (Marschke), obtained in June 2011 her Bachelor of Music degree with majors in voice performance and choral/general music education from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she studied with Patrice Michaels and graduated magna cum laude. Favorite Lawrence credits include The Old the Maid and the Thief (Miss Pinkerton), Into the Woods (Cinderella), and scenes from W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna). In addition to her studies at Lawrence, she was a member of the College Light Opera Company (Falmouth, Massachusetts) in summer 2010 where she performed the role of Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls as well as other various ensemble and comprimario roles. In summer 2009, she attended the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy.

In May 2013, Rachel Naughtin completed a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Missouri. During her master's degree, she was a voice teaching assistant and served as a soprano section leader with the University Singers conducted by R. Paul Crabb. While at Missouri she performed the role of Despina in Show-Me Opera's production of W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte. She also appeared in the scenes program as Adele in Die Fledermaus, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni among others.

Rachel Naughtin believes that teaching and performing go hand in hand. Since moving to Lawrence, Kansas in 2013, she has become an active performer and educator in the area. She currently teaches general music in Topeka while continuing to pursue a performance career and maintain a private voice studio. She is a member of the Te Te Deum Chamber Choir (Director: Matthew Christopher Shepard) in Kansas City, and she has also performed with the Kansas City Opera Institute and the Kansas City Chorale. She was also an active concert soloist in the Columbia, Missouri area. An active recitalist, Rshe has performed repertoire spanning five-centuries, and welcomes the opportunity to explore new music. She currently resides in Lawrence, Kansas
