Nationaal Symfonisch Kamerorkest (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: April 2007 - The Netherlands

The Nationaal Symfonisch Kamerorkest (= NASKA; National Symphonic Chamber Orchestra) is an enthusiastic and flexible ensemble which has a nucleus of around 60 young players. The size of the orchestra can vary from several players to a full symphony orchestra.

In addition to its own varied concert series (classical, popular classical, film music (live), oratorios, Passions, festivals, etc), NASKA is frequently invited to accompany choirs. A fine and important task to maintain the music culture and the repertoire for classical works for choir and orchestra. The repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary music.

As well as their own concert series the orchestra is regularly invited to play at varied locations and concert venues. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary. NASKA is always looking for new challenges, initiates and promotes performances of ‘unknown’ works and is presently working on both Dutch and World premieres. The orchestra is very willing to promote new music, and is very active in the field of education and music culture development in schools (primary and secondary schools). They are involved with various CD recordings.

In the 2013-2014 season, NASKA was nominated by an expert independent jury as 'best accompaniment orchestra' in the Netherlands. Furthermore, NASKA performed on June 30, 2014 for His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, as well as various ambassadors of Germany, Israel, Poland and many other dignitaries. ZMKWA spoke afterwards, very enthusiastically about the discipline, quality, unity and enthusiasm of the musicians ...

The Founder and Business Manager of NASKA is Jan Vermaning; Artistic Director and Concert-master is Anita Jongerman (since 2007).
