The German tenor and conductor, Nikolaus Müller, received his first musical education in the Thomanerchor Leipzig (1986-1995). He first studied physics before taking up his studies in orchestral conducting at the Leipziger Hochschule für Musik (Leipzig Academy of Music) under Michael Köhler. This was followed by the diploma 2004 with Fabio Luisi in Leipzig as well as the concert exam 2007 in Dresden with Ekkehard Klemm.
Nikolaus Müller is active as a music professional since 2000. After graduating, he was engaged as interim choir director of the Stadtsingechores Halle (2006), as Kapellmeister of the Wiener Sängerknaben (2007) and as choral director at the Theater Altenburg-Gera (2009-2010) and took over several rehearsals at the Theater Chemnitz. He has performed with the Wiener Sängerknaben in the USA and Latin America.
In 2013, Nikolaus Müller took over the re-founding of the Landesjugendchores Thüringen and has been their Artistic Direcor since then. In the fall of 2014, the Robert-Franz-Singakademie Halle appointed him as Artistic Director. He works as a conductor, lecturer and juror for the Landesmusikrat Thüringen (Thuringian Music Council) and the Landesmusikakademie Sondershausen. Since 2016, he has been Music Director and ance 2016-2017 season Head of Music at the Music Center of Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB).
As a guest conductor, Nikolaus Müller collaborates with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Halle, Rhein-Ruhr Philharmonie, Wiener Kammerorchester, Haydn Sinfonietta Wien and Elbland Philharmonie. He is also a member of Collegium Vocale Leipzig (Director: Michael Schönheit), singing tenor. |
